I’ve heard it so much lately, “I need to make a brain dump – I’m just so overloaded.” My question to you, how do you feel when the brain dump is made. I’m going to take a stab in the dark and say you might be like me and it goes a bit like this.
Oh that was good, I’m so glad my brain is empty and it’s all on paper!
Five minutes later, overwhelm hits again… Now it’s all out there I need to get it DONE like YESTERDAY!
I know right! It’s not cool! It could just be me, but…
If you suffer from brain dump overwhelm, or even just plain overwhelm – whether it’s effecting your daily life or not I think you’re going to to love today’s post!
The problem with making a brain dump or even a master to do list… the possibility of your brain going into the extreme of actually thinking all of it needs done RIGHT NOW!
Do all the things. Everything is important.
But are they?
Brain dumps & huge to do lists only lead to one thing – overwhelm. However, when done correctly is so empowering. And can lead to space, renewed time and really living the life you LOVE!
After months of testing the solution I’m about to share with you. I was able to dream and make monthly goals for myself. YES, Mom’s need goals too! Not just for my family or home, but for ME, and you can have this too!
How to make an effective to do list
What I’m about to tell you is simple, but powerful so don’t skip a single step!
- Get a piece of paper, notice I didn’t say your pretty planner or book out of your travelers notebook. Just a sheet of printer paper will work amazingly for this exercise.
- Go back a cross off the non-emergent and not important.
- Use the brain dump to create a guided to-do list.
- Categorize the remaining list and chose the most important things and take action on them.
I’ve created this Play-by-Play Workbook to help guide you in this nitty gritty.
Making a to do list shouldn’t be yet another the source of overwhelm or heaven for bid, make you think of more things to do. As women we do that naturally anyway! I know myself, making a brain-dump or to do list makes me think of all the things I wanted done yesterday!
With this proven system I promise the brain dump you make today will be the start of your success from here on.
